“Follow the money”

If you believe there is

a scandal, corruption, or a conspiracy, you might say, “follow the money.” In truth, this is how criminals get caught with embezzlement or other money crimes. Their money trails leave signatures to their nefarious ways. But now, some people use this expression to come up with far fetched theories of government or international conspiracies.
