I’ve noticed this trend throughout my life. Whenever an Asian

person talks about some sort of injustice that affected them, other people, usually non-Asians, respond with things that deflect from what’s being talked about. Typical responses would be:

“Not all (so-and-so) are bad.”
“Well, you Asians are also racist.”

That’s pure deflection and the latter is an instance of whataboutism. None of those things justify the fact that an Asian person has seen or experienced injustice. As an Asian American, I’m used to seeing these types of things. These are often used to defend the status quo and keep Asian voices down.

I’m hoping more Asians who learn English can see through these things and have no fear in raising and defending their voices when they notice something is wrong.

Many Asians are told to be modest according to our culture values while we forget that being confident is also equally important.

Racism in western culture seems to be mostly focused on African Americans, Arabs and Jewish people. Getting close to a random Asian passenger on the street and saying ‘Ni Hao’ is justified as merely giving a greeting word.

yeah it is really important to defend our own voices , but the first step will need me to open my mouth,i will try to speak more instead of being silent

Exactly. Can't agree more. That's one of the reason we need learn English better then we can defend ourselves.
