Drayton Hall is an 18th-century plantation in Charleston, SouthCarolina.
Founded in 1738, Drayton Hall is the nation’s earliest example of fully executed Palladian architecture and the oldest preserved plantation house in North America. It is the only one on the Ashley River to survive intact through both the Revolutionary and Civil wars, it is a National Historic Landmark. Because of the preservation philosophy, all imperfections and changes over time have survived to the present.
