Today in Chicago, the city surprised residents by dying
the river green, as part of a St. Patrick's Day tradition! Usually there is a parade and many parties that go along with this, however with covid the parade was canceled. But despite the pandemic, the city of Chicago dyed the river to keep the tradition going
The Chicago River has been dyed green every weekend before St Patrick's Day (on March 17th) since 1962. Thousands come to check out the river, drink green beer, and celebrate the holiday. In the Chicagoland area there are many people of Irish descent (including myself!)
