“The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shadeyou do not expect to sit”
- N. Henderson
Living in Sweden you are surrounded by trees, and our relationship to the forest and nature in general is a special one. I love the beauty of nature, and its different functions. Trees have another time scale than humans do. Trees can outlive us, if we allow them that is. Trees take carbon dioxide out of the air and turn it into oxygen. It’s essential for us to be able to breathe, and deforestation is a major cause in climate change.
Besides it’s essentials function, trees provide shelter. I have witnessed it so many times, people seeking shelter from the sun and just finding that special shady place to sit, reflect or read a good book. We tend to seek those special places and enjoy the moment.
W. Buffet said “Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago”. Appreciate others hard work and think about how you are planning for the future.
For me I can’t imagine living far away from the forest. Waking up and being able to see the forest is a daily routine for me.
