If you are

“sitting like a bump on a log,” you are being chastised for your laziness. While everyone else around you seems to be doing work, you may be just sitting there doing nothing, or perhaps involved in an activity that doesn’t seem important. Men could be told this by their wives as they watch a game while she works in the kitchen preparing food. Or children could be told this while the parents are working hard as the kids play.
