It's tough to maintain long lasting friendship on HelloTalk.

There is just so much noise coming from everybody. Everyone here has at least 5 people who they are talking to at the same time. We are constantly being interrupted, so we build a friendship out of immediate reward and quick validation. It's like receiving a dose of dopamine per reply. It's not based on real connection, it's not based on something more. The key to keeping an online relationship in the modern world now is to try to stand out among 300+ people and able to build the fastest connection. Nobody cares about how great you are, honestly. They got 4 other people here doing the same thing as you do, and 100+ messages that are sitting in their inbox. The proper way is to be genuine, be real, and be authentic.
