    Hmm I can faintly hear "graduation". Was it the day of a ceremony? I didn't get the numbers he said.😖

    3 Graduations in June..? They are there to help people cross the street. 9-11, 3-5, 7...hours they are there? It’s quite hard to understand native speakers conversation😭

    @Niko -はい。 今日[きょう]は 卒業式[そつぎょうしき]んじゃない? -Yes. I’m guessing today is the day of graduation ceremonies? - 数[かず]は9、11、3、5、7 でした。 数[かず]は 卒業式[そつぎょうしき]の 時[とき]でした。 -The numbers were 9, 11, 3, 5, 7. The numbers were the (start) times of the graduation ceremonies.

    @Kazy -はい。3度なんですけど、 -Yes, 3 times (or graduations), but... -どして、警察[けいさつ]は「6月」と 言[い]うの 時[とき]は 分からない。 -I don’t know why the police officer said, “June,” when he said it. (because we’re currently in May, not June. I’m guessing he misspoke?) -Yes, they’re there to help people to cross the street. -Don’t worry. There was so much noise in the background. I had a hard time hearing the audio, too.

    @a a nahh, I said it because I thought so. I didn’t mean you thought my English was really bad. I can teach you Japanese!! Some people left some tips about the conversation here, and now i could hear and understand some of it. Policemen here and there came to protect graduates from any accidents, I mean, to make sure to let them cross the street safely.

    @CHiHARu.Uninstalled Thanks for commenting! I just do these for fun, even for myself. Sometimes I realize that I don’t understand why us English speakers speak the way we do. I like seeing from different perspectives.

    -1” me: Hey! How’s it goin’ officer? -2” officer: Good! How are you? -3” me: What’s with all... the... uh... police presence now? -6” office: Um... it’s...(that’s not now) it’s (inaudible) June graduation at the Golden One Center. -10” me: Oh, ok! -10” officer: So, we’re just here helpin’ people get across the street. -13” me: Ok! So, it’s not a danger... or... emergency situation...? -16” office: Nope. Nope. There’s Elk Grove Unified that’s doing... um... a graduation. They’re doing three graduations till the end of the week. And so they do nine, eleven, three, five, and seven. So, (inaudible) -29” me: You guys are everywhere: over there, and here. -31” officer: (inaudible) just watching traffic. -34” me: Thank you.

    @Reiko You’re welcome! 😌 I record all the audio on my iPhone, which doesn’t have a good microphone. And these recordings aren’t planned; I really was curious about why there were so many police officers. They had officers and cars on every block for three blocks in a row! I’m still experimenting on HelloTalk, so I might make changes to what I’m going to do.
