 sth clearer/more specific  Example: “Occasionally in class I need to break down a topic into more detail so that all of the students are able to follow it.”
Meaning (2): Be overcome with emotion
Example: “When people receive very emotive news, both good or bad, it’s natural to break down. It’s a lot to take in.”
