The reason I’m learning Japanese

Someone I talked to recently

asked me why I’m learning Japanese. There’s many reasons anime, food, culture, and music. But the main reason is written below.

I was walking through New York one fine evening and I saw an elderly couple lost. They spoke very little English and spoke Japanese for the most part. Luckily, I understood that they needed help so I showed them the way to their hotel. I still remember that they didn’t realize they were speaking Japanese and I was speaking English. But I was really happy to be able to help that couple and that is why I learn languages. I want to be able to help someone in need if I’m capable of it.
