和製英語とはあるが今日その逆の場合もあることに気が付いた。第2次世界大戦の後、アメリカ人は帰国して、ある日本語の言葉を一

般人の言い回しに紹介しました。例えば、🤏「少し」🤏というのが「skosh」という、ちょっとの間とか量とかの意味の込めた言葉になりました。自分でもちっちゃい頃から「I’ll be back in a skosh.」とか言ったことがあります。その言葉の語源を知らずに当たり前のように使っていました。
それから「班長」は「head honcho」になって同じような意味がありました。「He’s the head honcho of the company.」とか。これらの言葉は誰もが知ると思いますがその語源が分かるアメリカ人は少なくいるだろう。

    @Roy I think most Americans age 30+ know it. Maybe the younger generation doesn’t, but I’m not sure. Pretty cool, huh?

    That is very interesting! Now I figured out why my friends called me “skosh” or “skrosh” when I was an exchange student in Michigan 😄 since my nickname is “Yoshi”, they somehow thought of the word “skosh” and might have called me “skosh” 😂 anyways, thanks for sharing!
