くらくなるまえのさむいさんぽ。- A cold walk before dark.

I headed to the lake

today right at 5pm after completing work. It was chilly with temperatures around 4°C at that time, but I needed to get some air and get moving. The lake began freezing up with the very cold temperatures we got. I was able to get a few shots of the ice that is just starting to build on the more sheltered and shallow parts of the lake and stream.

In winter the lake is used for ice skating. I am very much looking forward to that every year. I hope they will open this year with the restrictions due to the pandemic (the ice is groomed and the rink is staffed, so you need to buy tickets).

A lone cormorant was again sitting on top of the dam. Otherwise it was very quiet, most of the birds are sheltering somewhere. There is still some snow remaining, but it will be disappearing again in the coming days as temperatures continue to warm. Before leaving, I observed a beautiful sky once again. I love sunsets.

These walks will be not be possible soon, as we move the clock back one hour this Sunday. It will get dark before 5pm...

❇The first picture I am very excited about. It is just a deer I encountered last weekend when walking in my neighborhood. It was looking through the fence and the sun was hitting its head perfectly. I really like how the photo turned out.

@Aya ありがとう! There are mountain goats here if you go in higher elevations. Those are fun, too.
