English Slang of the day: “To be skint”

This phrase is used

to describe having very little money or no money at all.

It is an informal phrase so would be only used with friends and family, and is usually used as an excuse for not going out.

Here’s an example:

Pete 🗣 “Do you fancy going out to the pub later?”

Dave🗣 “I can’t, I’m skint. All of my wages went into fixing the car”
