오늘의 영어 꿀팁: "instead" 해체했어요.

A: Will you be at the meeting?
B

: No, but John will attend in my stead. (=> John will attend instead of me, on my behalf.)

instead of me => in my stead
instead of her => in her stead
instead of him => in his stead

"in _ stead" 표현 쓰면 꼭 똑똑할 것 같아요!

A: I'll be out of town on election day.
B: Oh really? How will you vote?
A: I'm hoping someone can vote in my stead. (vote for me, on my behalf)

    Thank you for the tip but not "해체했어요.". "대체했어요."would be right.

    @youn instead를 생선 뼈 바르듯이 in_sread로 해체해서 대체하다는 뜻으로 쓴 것 같은데요:)

    It's okay. I'll do in your stead. 괜찮아요. 제가 대신 해줄게요. Is this right?

    Teacher!! So it cannot be used as "in its stead"?? For example, A : Did you check your M16? B : No, I would use AK47 in its stead this time!!!

    @noname this can work! "it" is totally fine.

    @youn i was trying to say "deconstructed" / taken apart, instead of "replaced." instead => in _ stead.

    @Kr "for" is basically the same, yes. because "on my behalf" is the nuance we are communicating. but "in _ stead" sounds smarter ;)
