I seek and seek, I search and search -- in vain!
It's cold, it's cold! Am so lonely, lonely!
I am in pain, in pain!
All teary, all teary!
Will my woes e'er wane? Woes e'er wane?
While it should be warm, the cold still lingers in protest,
Making it hard for me to take a peaceful rest.
Cups of weak wine, no match for piercing winds at night.
Freely, wild geese arrow in flight.
O My sorrows are unsurpassed.
For I know some of the geese from years past!
The ground is overgrown with yellow flowers.
Desolate and hurt, who'd have the heart to pick them at this hour?
Alone, I keep watch by the window --
O When will the Night ever fall?
Light rain's falling, pitter-patter, on the phoenix tree and all.
Drop by drop, drip by drip --
Evening, rain tears then soaking acquire.
For all this, could mere "SORROWS" describe my situation dire?
