These are pictures that I took when I visited St. Mary’s Glacier

in Colorado. Even though it’s the middle of summer, the snow never melts. People who hike to the glacier often bring skis, sleds, and snowboards.

The hike up to the glacier was challenging, since the air is so thin and the elevation is so high. There were a lot of rocks in the trail, which made it easy to trip and fall down.

Beneath the glacier is a lake, which is crystal clear. The water is very cold, though, since the lake is filled up by glacial melt. All along the lake there are cliffs and boulders which tourists like to jump off of into the water. Even though the water is freezing, it’s refreshing on a hot day.

In the 19th century, Colorado was a hub for gold and ore mining. All around the state, the legacy of the mining industry can still be found. There are museums and old industrial equipment all around the state which I stumbled upon randomly.

在19世纪，科罗拉多州是黄金和矿石开采中心。 在全州各地，仍然可以找到采矿业的遗产。在整个州，我随机遇到了博物馆和采矿设备。
