“Shoot the breeze”

If you want to have a talk

with someone about nothing in particular, you can say to them, “Let’s shoot the breeze sometime.” Shooting the breeze is having an informal talk without any sort of objective. Often times it is just to get to know someone informally without any sort of commitment or attachment. You can also shoot the breeze to talk to your neighbors or coworkers about ordinary things going on in life, but none of the topics will be stressful or emotional. Shooting the breeze is stress free talking.
