Idiom of the Day

“Caught red handed”

If you were “caught red

handed,” it means that someone caught you doing something bad in the moment you were doing the act. If you were a thief, you would be caught red handed with the stolen goods in your hands. If you were having an affair, you would be caught red handed while being in bed with your lover. Anytime you are caught red handed, there is no denying the evidence. You are absolutely guilty, and your lies will not work.

This idiom goes back to the 1400’s in Scotland when people were caught with blood on their hands.

@Dayeong If you catch someone doing something they shouldn’t, yes. It is very appropriate to say something like this.

@Morton your accent is somewhat strong, but it is still understandable. I can hear all of the words clearly without much problem. But if you were speaking in English to a foreigner, they may have some difficulties understanding you with certain words. I think you are doing well. Just keep practicing. Learning English and cutting away accents takes a little time.

@Goal0321 I really can’t help you with that, as I am not a speech pathologist. My training is in education and teaching others how to find answers for themselves. I know that YouTube had many videos on helping you with a number of pronunciation difficulties. Pick one word or one sound and practice it many times a day until you can get the sound closer to my voice. The videos online can help you practice the sounds better as well.
