Maybe during an activity at work you have to choose between being partners with an awful co-worker, or to be partners with your boss. “Pick your poison” (or “What’s your poison?”) is also a common expression for choosing an alcoholic drink at a bar. The Latin word “toxicum” means “poison,” where we also get the word “intoxicate.”
