My daughter hands over a bunch of Korean coins to me. I guess

I will need to take a trip to Korea.😁

First time I bought a 뚝배기 because my daughter wanted one to bring to college. 🥘

Since my daughter's been home from Korea, she's been diligently practicing Korean language.📒 Korean Professor told my daughter that she had the best pronunciation in the Korean language class.🎉🎆 I wish I could be committed to studying Korean like my daughter.😅

By the way, our daughter had an amazing time in Korea. She regrets not applying to a one year study abroad program. She got lost several times and took the wrong transportations several times. She also lost her credit card and her new iPhone.😨 Luckily, someone found my daughter's iPhone and turned it over to the police station. As a foreigner, my daughter learned some valuable lessons on Korea culture and traveling solo at a young age.

My wonderful friend who I met on this app was a lifesaver.😇 She stopped using this app for quite sometime now. There was a date mixed up with a return flight to the US for my daughter.😨 My friend offered my daughter to stay over one night at her place and drive my daughter to Incheon airport the next day. I am forever grateful for her kindness and friendship.🙏💞 There are genuinely nice people on this app.💖

I am so happy to hear that. I believe she learned a lot of things not only language but also accepting & respecting different cultures. I had a similar experience in the UK. I learned that there are so many different people and live with their own way. She absolutely opened her eyes to see the world. Wow Beth!! You have a wonderful brave daughter.

@mihae Korea being a homogeneous country, my daughter was stared at alot. Eventually, my daughter stared back at them... LOL. She also colored her hair black while she was in Korea to look more Asian. When I was in London in 1986, I remember it being a multiracial city, definitely an eye-opener.^^ Indeed, my daughter was brave. She wants to return to Korea after she graduates from college.

@Beth 💜💜💜💜 when I was in Korea I rarely saw people stare. I look at faces as I walk around and most seemed to avoid looking at me. If I caught them looking the quickly look away. I did most definitely feel like I was walking in a bubble. Do you know the meme where a person walks through a crowd and the people part to make space wherever the person goes. It felt a bit like that. Does that make sense? I wished for the opportunity to talk with people.

@Maggie Yup, I understand the meme you described...an unusual feeling. My daughter is half Korean but looks more white. Constantly around young people at a Korea University, I think the native Korean students were curious about her looks. Also walking around different neighborhoods of Seoul, she was stared at... usually by young people. Perhaps my daughter has a unique look to them...who knows.🤔
