    @Yeon The American Robin is actually not a robin at all. It is a thrush. Those who named it thought it looked similar to the European Robin so also called it a robin.

    @Mary I count how many hawks and eagles migrate through this area every day in the spring. I don’t have any scientific training about birds. My expertise is in identifying all the kinds of birds we have here.

    @gyugyu “Belly” is correct, but the upper part of the orange can also be called “breast”. Many birds are named after the colors of these areas such as “red-bellied woodpecker” or “white-breasted nuthatch”.
