An Epitaph by Stephen Hawes.

O MORTAL folk, you may behold

and see
How I lie here, sometime a mighty knight;
The end of joy and all prosperitee
Is death at last, thorough his course and might:
After the day there cometh the dark night,
For though the daye be never so long,
At last the bells ringeth to evensong.

    This man must be an American, because a British citizen needn't any epitaph at all like we have known.😎

    @Only欧令 Hahaha. Perhaps a prophetic one because this poem was written over 200 years before the USA was established.

    I enjoyed this poem. Chiefly for its simple writing and understandable style.
