Ur very smart! Actually I have a similar experience in Nanjing which is quite interesting. That day, I forgot to bring my subway card and had no cash with me at the moment. So I went to a fruit store and bought some oranges.(I thought simply exchanging money is not very polite.) While scanning the paying code, I asked the owner if he can exchange some cash and fortunately he said ok! Then I got 4 RMB to buy tickets but held oranges for a whole day🤣🤣
