anyone here interested botany/plants?

when a plant species

from one region is brought to another region, it is considered an "introduced species". if an introduced spwcies begins to take over the land scape and compete with native plants, it is called an "invasive species". as a botanist, invasive species are a concern for me because they prevent growth of native and rare plant species which can eventually cause extinction. many of the invasive plant species in my region of the US come from Japan and Eurasia (China and Russia). I think this is because we have similar climates. Does your region have invasive plants from the US? I would be interested to learn about which species from the US are troublesome for other countries.

In Japan, introduced species called 外来種(がいらいしゅ). A typical example is Lance-leaved coreopsis from USA. It has expanded rapidly since it was introduced for ornamental and greening purposes in the 1880s, and may be clustered in rivers and roads.
