My great Grandpa, was born and raised in Sinaloa, Mexico 🇲🇽.

His son, my Grandpa, was born in Los Angeles. My Grandpa was fluent in Spanish but never passed down the language to my Dad. At that cultural time in America, they thought it was better for my Dad's future to only know English.

Times have changed...

When I have a child someday, I want to grow them up to be bilingual. I think it is one of the most powerful gifts you can give to your son or daughter that can last their entire life.

A friend of mine have done that to his daughter, have talked to her in Portuguese as well as English since she was born. To date she is 5 years old, is able to watch all cartoons and children shows in English, besides she can pronounce English words and speak fluently much more than I do.

I totally agree that is one of the best thing parents can give to their children. 👍to speak language with your kids daily is more important than just sending them to a language school

This sounds similar to my family...my mother is from Italy, but English was spoken to me as a child. I can understand Italian, but only speak it in a very rudimentary way.
