HelloTalk is hiring a full-time English learning content writer for our new language learning product. We are a worldwide language exchange app that helps our users ‘talk to the world’ in a community of 10 million fellow language learners. You will be part of the learning services team, which focuses on providing students with structured learning opportunities that help them gain the language and confidence they need to interact with the community and with the English speaking world. 

How do you know if this position is right for you? If you are an experienced teacher who is familiar with the digital language learning landscape, have experience writing your own learning materials, and are eager to learn and grow in both teaching theory and digital product development, keep reading!

Most importantly, you will be...
• Writing English language learning materials for learners of all levels.  • Working with the Learning Services team to launch new products. • Collecting and analyzing feedback and data from users. • Keeping up with the digital language learning industry, including reviewing and testing other products on the market.
You may also be...
• Editing English language content produced by other teams at HelloTalk. • Leading and receiving training to keep growing your skills. • Assisting with the development of new product features, as needed.
• Native-level English (familiarity with American style, grammar, and spelling preferred). • VERY high level of detail orientation. • Education or instructional design-related degree preferred. • Growth mindset— we want you to be excited to learn!  • Research and teaching-oriented.  • Able to take feedback openly and apply it to future work. • Flexibility— this is a startup environment and everyone pitches in to get things done • Available to work on-site, China work permit available.

Head of Marketing


As a Head of Marketing you will...
• Be responsible for planning, development, and implementation of all of the HelloTalk marketing strategies and communications both external and internal.  • Coordinate at the strategic and tactical levels with the other teams including Product, Development, and Design. • Prioritise tasks in the ever changing product development schedule. • Monitor data to suggest new opportunities for growth and strategy optimisation. • Ensure staffing levels are maintained by recruiting new members of the team or identifying the need for freelance contributors.

You are…
• A professional with minimum 5 year experience in a similar role. • Able to work in a remote and asynchronous team. • Experienced working with dynamic international start ups. • Keeping up to date with new trends and tools in the online/app marketing world and the tech sphere.  • Keen to self-educate and demonstrate a growth mindset.  • A self-motivated team player with a calm management style. • Willing to relocate to Shenzhen, China • Able to work in English, basic Chinese is a plus. • (Optional) familiar with the landscape of language teaching apps and services.

Ideally you also have...
