At lunch break , I finally found a short cut to grab my favorite korean food 🍲 with my colleague, we both intern , we didn’t talk about things related to work , we shared about hobbies family and vacation…I love listening people talking about these interesting things rather than what they are doing in workplace . I believe that work is just a small part of our life and identity . 2. Help my manager do some translation . We got a monthly meeting with korean team , reporting our progress. Most of time I just keep silence and listening without a word . But my manger is also not good at speaking English and asked me to interpret it into English . I did it without any hesitation and try to speak clearly as possible as I can. After the meeting my manager told me she was nervous at that time . So was I 🙏 but I had to pretend to be capable and it worked. 🥲😭😭 this meeting totally reminded me that I am capable and shouldn’t fear expressing . Cause I never expected someone would remember me in this community as a newer. ☺️☺️ I guess it’s mainly because I always wear a smile and I am thin & tall , with big eyes . I believe some traits of myself would naturally capture people’s attention😎 The other inspiration I got today was that I felt I love working in a foreign country or just a multiple national company although my English speaking is clumsy. It is because of the language barrier that makes me feel safe. I don’t have to loud myself , don’t have to be a people pleaser , no one offend me , we talk about light topics without any stress , and we are willing to give support and tolerance. There’s no crowded rush of people, no stress in the air and your body. just fresher fruits and vegetables, waiting to be picked. I can take my time, strolling between the stalls, nodding and greeting people as they pass by, choosing the healthiest greens that suit me best. I only ordered their matcha — honestly, it’s one of the best I’ve had anywhere. authentic , smooth, high-quality. They also have many beautifully homemade desserts.After a little while, one of the staff— a sweet, lovely girl I had seen before — walked over with a small box. Inside were a few delicate madeleines. She smiled and said, “Just a little thank-you for visiting us from time to time.” I was absolutely surprised. I didn’t think they would recognize me, let alone remember that I come here from time to time. I was often sitting alone with my book in a little corner. Although It was such a small gesture, but it warmed my heart in a big way. In that moment, I felt seen — not as a stranger or foreigner , but as a part of something familiar, kind. I appreciate the way on how they interact with customers . the quiet connections that remind me how soft and beautiful life can be when we slow down to notice it.
