Every vow stood bowed in shame, Each promise faded without a name. My tears were strangers, they passed me by, And uninvited guests filled the sky. Every book was read, each tale retold, Nothing remained that I’d not been sold. In the heart of barren, silent lands, I planted skies with my own hands. Shadows had no power, no say, The sun alone lit up my way. For just two sips to quench my need, I bathed in sun my lifetime’s seed. Now I stand at the edge, apart, These borders were drawn by my own heart. I sat in sorrow, quietly still, While evening laughed from the distant hill. It’s wrong to call her untrue, I know, I, too, was never pure as snow. I fear the ones I love might lie, Leaving wounds that never die. Am I the moon, or just its scar? Am I the fire, or just a spark? Am I a drop, or am I the sea? Am I calm, or chaos set free?
