🎇Starbucks in Seoul🎆

I’m still in Seoul, but I didn’t drink tonight. I’m checking out of my hotel tomorrow morning, so I wanted to come back a little earlier.

Anyway, I went to one of the most famous Starbucks coffee houses in Seoul today. It looks like a fancy hotel, doesn’t it? I tried the Cold Brew Float, which is Starbucks Reserve coffee and vanilla ice cream. I paid around $8 for the coffee, which I find to be a little expensive, but it was tasty.

The picture on the bottom right-hand corner is apparently the biggest Starbucks in the world, located in Tokyo, Japan. Has anyone been there?

🎇Netflix Movie Recommendation🎆

I just finished watching a movie on Netflix called “Sweet and Sour.” The premise is simple: the movie is about the ups and downs of romantic relationships within a Korean context, with a twist at the end. If you’re into movies that show the “real” side of relationships, I recommend this film.

This movie reminded me of a long-term relationship I was in. Yes, I’m using the past tense, because sadly, the relationship ended. It didn’t end because of something dramatic, like someone cheating. No, it ended because of many small incidents based on misunderstandings, changes in feelings towards each other, etc. However, these small incidents built up over the years, actually becoming something quite big like an unconquerable mountain.

In retrospect, I’m glad that I made the very difficult decision of ending the relationship, as it was unhealthy and even destructive at times. Being in a relationship should make you happy, first and foremost, and maybe just maybe the person you’re with will be the person you’ll be with forever and ever.

🎆Speed Reading Challenge🎇

⚠️Don’t break your brain! 🤯

⚡️Part 2

Since my last recording, the number of posts for this challenge increased by 303 for a total 645, which is a 189% increase if you round up. I like to think that my recording had something to do with that, but probably not. In any case, this is a fun recording, so let me do another one.

In the last recording, I looked at some of the smallest numbers. Now, the biggest.

As of today, “What does this mean” has 119,251 posts. “Help me translate” has 251,153 posts, and “How’s my pronunciation” has 251,153 posts. “Language exchange” has 154,891 posts, but the winner…(drum roll) goes to “Help me learn languages” at 546,784 posts. This is a massive number, more than twice the population of Geneva, and the money I’ll earn in the next 3 days. In euros? No. In dollars? I wish. In Chinese Yuan? That’s too little…I’ll let you use your imagination.

Most of the posts with the largest numbers have to do with language, which is obvious. “How’s my pronunciation” is interesting though. Maybe everyone is self-conscious about their pronunciation, or the fact that they have an accent. I always say that as long as people can understand you, don’t worry too much about your pronunciation, and I think it’s quite nice to have an accent, which is part of your identity.

Try to read this in under 60 seconds.

🎇Speed Reading Challenge🎆

⚡️Part 1

This challenge has been going on for a while, but interestingly, not many people have attempted it. Perhaps, there’s a good reason behind it. It’s not easy to read something fast and still be understandable. As of now, there are only 342 posts for this challenge. For comparative purposes, there are 12,965 posts for “Let’s be friends.” Maybe people are lonely and are looking for friends, especially during this pandemic, hence the challenge’s popularity. There are 2,420 posts for the English Tongue Twister challenge, which I’ve done many times. “My first post” has 67,062 posts. “English idioms” has 2,281 posts, “What’s the difference” has 2,550 posts, “Fun stories about language learning” has 7,877 posts, “Anime” has 5,727 posts, “Photography” has 12,871 posts, and “Share music” has 72,359 posts.

Let’s look at the extremes. First, the smallest numbers that I could find. “English TV series recommendation” has a paltry 38 posts, which is shocking. What the f*** guys? There are so many good TV shows out there right now, especially on Netflix. For example, The Queen’s Gambit is a great series. It’s about a girl who’s a chess genius and conquers the world of chess, which was and still is dominated by men. This series became so popular that it created a chess boom.

Try to read this in under 60 seconds.
