Every vow stood bowed in shame, Each promise faded without a name. My tears were strangers, they passed me by, And uninvited guests filled the sky. Every book was read, each tale retold, Nothing remained that I’d not been sold. In the heart of barren, silent lands, I planted skies with my own hands. Shadows had no power, no say, The sun alone lit up my way. For just two sips to quench my need, I bathed in sun my lifetime’s seed. Now I stand at the edge, apart, These borders were drawn by my own heart. I sat in sorrow, quietly still, While evening laughed from the distant hill. It’s wrong to call her untrue, I know, I, too, was never pure as snow. With laughter and tears, my eyes cling close To the vision of your sacred feet, As yearning grows and longing flows, My restless heart forgets to beat. A fierce desire has seized my soul, When will I drink the sight of your face? Restless, breathless, I wait and ache— For your dawn to flood life’s empty space. My trembling spirit cannot find calm, No patience, no peace, just your name— Each word of yours a trembling psalm, Each sound—a balm, each breath—a flame. Eyes wounded in the drought of your gaze, Since you departed, peace has flown. My pillow drenched in silent haze, These sleepless nights I spend alone. Since the day of parting, my soul is torn, Sweet echoes of your voice remain; Your name makes my being shiver— So gentle and sweet, yet burning with pain. One path, one hope, I watch in vain— Through ceaseless nights, longing’s rain; To whom shall I speak this silent ache? My tears like rivers have left their stain. Who shall know this hidden fire, This wound that no healer can mend? Still, my lips repeat your holy name, Your memory all longing transcends. Across many births I wandered apart, Now, I devote this life to you alone. All that I am, I lay at your feet— Let this longing be my humble throne.
