## 1. 8/22/2025

The annual “Awa Odori” festival will be held in Koenji today and tomorrow. This traditional festival has continued since 1957, so if you are in Tokyo🗼,why not go and see it? The performances of 12,000 dancers, along with the music of the bands that support them, are truly spectacular. Be sure to enjoy it together with the calls of “ヤットサー!!”🙌🙌

However, since around one million spectators visit every year, traveling to and from Koenji is extremely crowded and difficult, so please be careful😱😅It is much easier to get off at a station one or two stops before or after Koenji and walk from there, so that is recommended🚉🚶‍➡️🚶‍♀️‍➡️

〜Kanazawa②〜
I’ve been here so many times that I barely visited the usual spots this time, but even so, including Kanazawa, I still think Ishikawa is my favorite prefecture in Japan✨️
See you Ishikawa,I’m back in Tokyo🙌🗼

〜Kanazawa①〜
On the final day of my short trip, I ate kakigōri at a sweets shop run by a traditional Japanese restaurant, had fresh seafood bowls at Omicho Market, and explored the area around the samurai residences🍧🐟️⚔️
I’ve been to Kanazawa many times, so I didn’t visit this time, but in this area, “Myoryuji Temple” is also very wonderful✨️
Inside, there are all sorts of tricks like hidden traps, escape routes, secret stairs, and hidden rooms, making it like a mechanical mansion. For this reason, it’s commonly called the “Ninja Temple”🥷 Because of this, the exterior looks like a two-story building, but in reality, it has four floors and seven levels, with 23 rooms and 29 staircases. At first glance, it just looks like a regular temple, but it’s a really fascinating place, so I recommend exploring it together with the Nishi Chaya District.🍵

☀morning walk in kanazawa🚶‍➡️
Famous shrines are nice, but local shrines like this each have their own unique features, which makes them interesting too ⛩️
Well then, I think I’ll head back to the hotel and take another nap🫩💤🤣

Today I moved to Komatsu, went to the aviation museum, visited Katayamazu Onsen, and even watched a super local rural Bon Odori festival ✈️♨💃
And of course, when you come to the Hokuriku region, you have to eat delicious sushi 🍣😋 Hokkaido and Toyosu are more famous, but personally, I think the seafood in Hokuriku is the best in Japan ☀
I’ll be returning to Tokyo tomorrow evening, so I plan to fully enjoy Kanazawa until then 🚅

On a whim, I took a quick trip to the Hokuriku region 🚅
I just wanted to escape this hellish heat, even if only a little 🫠😱

Tonight’s dinner was at my regular, long-established yakiniku restaurant.
Founded in 1958, it was the first yakiniku restaurant established in this area, and ever since its founding, it has been dedicated to serving high-quality domestic black-haired wagyu beef🐂
In recent years, these kinds of long-standing restaurants have been steadily disappearing, which is very unfortunate, but I really love places like this, so I truly hope they’ll continue on for a long time to come🙏🙇🙌

## 13. 8/2/2025

Today, I went to the Sri Lanka Fair being held at Yoyogi Park 🇱🇰🇯🇵🇱🇰
Just like the previous Vietnam Fair, there were lots of food stalls, and on stage, we got to see traditional Sri Lankan dances and more-it was such a fun event 💃✨️
I bought Sri Lankan-style Biryani, coconut roti, and spicy pickled mango from the food stalls. It was my first time trying all of them, but they were all really delicious 😋 I especially liked the spicy pickled mango 🥭
I said this during the Vietnam Fair too, but I really wish there were more of these kinds of events from different countries-it would be so fun and enriching 🙌🌍️🙌
This “Sri Lanka Fair” is running until tomorrow, so if you’re interested, definitely check it out!!! 🇱🇰✨️

🐥2nd Recommended Animal Café🐥

This place, AniTouch Tokyo Dome City, located within the grounds of Tokyo Dome, which is also my sacred place⚾️🐰.
Strictly speaking, it’s not an animal café😅
This is a place run by a zoo, and you can actually interact with many animals, with capybaras at the forefront.
You can feed various animals, and we had a really fun time-like when a monkey suddenly jumped onto my shoulder, or when a bird landed precisely on my companion’s head🤣🤣
It’s easy to access from places like Shinjuku and Shibuya, and the surrounding area includes an amusement park, arcade, and shopping mall, making it a place where even families with small children can enjoy a whole day.
“AniTouch” is also surprisingly a hidden gem and not very crowded, so I highly recommend it✨☺️

Tonight’s dinner is at a Chinese restaurant in Shinjuku that I’ve been going to for over 20 years.
I’m having black sesame tantanmen and fried chicken 🍜🥢
After that, one of the familiar staff members will automatically bring me a spring roll.
It’s a routine that’s been going on for over 15 years-something that happens every single time. And of course, they always make sure to charge me for it 🤣🤣
The dishes, all made by people from the region, are delicious and inexpensive. I recommend this Chinese restaurant🙌🙌

## 16. 7/26/2025

I was asked to babysit by a friend for just a few hours, so I took the little one to a nearby Ennichi .（temple fair）🛕
It wasn’t a big event, but it really felt like one of those classic, nostalgic scenes from a traditional Japanese summer, and it was such a nice experience 🎐🍉
I completely spoiled him-he played tons of games, won a bunch of prizes, and ate all kinds of food from the stalls, so… he might’ve gotten scolded by his mom after got home 😱
Sorry…!! 😂😂

## 17. 7/23/2025

When my animal-loving British friend came to Japan, she took me to all sorts of animal cafés, so I’d like to occasionally share a few recommendations from that experience.
To start, today I’ll introduce “Alpaca Fureai Land” in Kagurazaka.
It was my first time seeing an alpaca in real life, and they were much bigger than I expected! Super fluffy and absolutely adorable 😊
If you make a reservation in advance, it seems you can even go for a walk with them through the city 🙌
I think this might be the only alpaca café in Japan!?
If you like alpacas or are curious, definitely check it out!!

Mt. Takao ②

On a perfectly clear day, you can get a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji. It was cloudy on the day I went, though. ☁😅 I took the cable car partway up and then hiked to the summit from there, and for the way back, I took the gondola lift down. You can also use the gondola both ways, so it’s very convenient for elderly people or families with small children to reach the summit easily. 🛗
The nozawana oyaki (stuffed vegetable bun) and tempura soba were also delicious🥢
The cherry blossoms in spring and the autumn foliage at Mt. Takao are absolutely stunning, so I highly recommend visiting during those seasons. 🌸🍁🗻

Mt. Takao ①

Mt. Takao is a 599meter high mountain located in Tokyo. Thanks to its easy access, you can get there directly from Shinjuku without changing trains and its rich natural environment, it is one of the most popular hiking and trekking spots in Japan. Since ancient times, it has been revered as a “sacred mountain (reizan),”👻 and there is a famous temple called “Yakuoin” near the summit. But I ended up only taking pictures of the tengu statues and completely forgot to take photos of Yakuoin itself😅👺😅

## 20. 7/18/2025

Today’s lunch was omu-hayashi rice. The fluffy soft-cooked egg version has been popular in Japan for quite a long time now, but honestly, I actually prefer the old-fashioned “Showa retro style” omelette with the eggs fully cooked 🤫😅 Still, this was really delicious😋
Thank you for the meal☺️☺️

Omu-hayashi rice is a Japanese dish with an omelette served over rice, topped with rich demi-glace-style beef stew.
Traditional Japanese cuisine is delicious, but this kind of Japanese-style Western food, adapted in a Japanese way, is also really tasty😊 Definitely give it a try😁😁

「BASSANOVA Shindaita」
When it comes to tsukemen shops in Tokyo, this one is my absolute favorite. I personally eat the basic every time, but they also have all kinds of unique dipping sauces like green curry and laksa. They have not only tsukemen, but also regular ramen. The gyoza is delicious too 🥟It's a place I definitely recommend. Thank you for the delicious meal~ 🍜🥢🙏

Yokohama has a unique atmosphere that's quite different from Tokyo, and it's a very lovely city.

My favorite place in all of Japan is Ishikawa Prefecture.
It suffered severe damage in a major earthquake a few years ago, and recovery efforts are still ongoing even now.👷‍♂️🦺
Simply restoring things back to how they were would be enough, but I feel like this kind of playful spirit and mindset, which might seem unnecessary at first glance, is also very Japanese in a way. And I like that 🕊️🚇️
Hang in there, Ishikawa! 🙌🙌

## 30. 6/23/2025

Since I’m in Nagoya for work and my beloved🏀 ⚡️ finally became🏆️, I splurged a little on today’s lunch and had "hitsumabushi" for the first time in a while😄
Regular unajū and unadon are delicious too, but hitsumabushi is my favorite 🥢

⚡️Congrats, OKC⚡️

Hitsumabushi is a Nagoya specialty dish consisting of grilled eel chopped and served over rice. There are three ways to enjoy it: eat it as is, add condiments, or pour broth over it to enjoy it like ochazuke (rice with tea).🍚
