#34 My beautiful Counselor
Recently, my 100-day challenge become irregular. Since "100 days" is a lie, I will change it to a 100-time challenge😭
Writing my post is heavy on my mind lately. The reason is partly the pressure at work, but also my colleagues probably found this account!
He texted me, "Do you use HelloTalk?"
There are several people named Kanako in my company, so I managed to deflect the question, but it was awkward
If HQs gets around that I’m writing silly posts in broken English, they might start doubting my ability, and I could be lay off!

I try to set V- P- N outside Japan, or writing about music reviews only from now on to avoid found.
But I realized that such bothersome would makes me less willing to continue,
so I decided to keep going as is. If I get lay off, please introduce me to job!

Anyway, my passion was down, so I consulted my English teacher, the one I always talk to when my leaning motivation was down.
I want to share our conversation. (I got her permission)
I met her online class. She's a British who is also a counselor. She has a mysterious charm that captures the hearts of core fans, with a beauty like Aaliyah and a frank way of speaking rather than friendly.
Usually, we only talk about graphs for IELTS, but this time, I consulted her about learning

With a languid tone, she said, "Your motivation is weak. Is it just for work? Don't you have more desperate one? My French improved the most when I got a French boyfriend."
I thought, isn't my motivation of losing my job as desperate as the one to talk to boyfriend? But I replied, "My motivation is talking to you"
She looked irritated and, "Stop the flattery. I'm serious"
Then she said, "Write down more motivations for learning. Being busy at work is no excuse. Or, you're escaping into work and beer since you don't want to face life, aren't you? Face important thing seriously"
I really felt awkward then. There were still 10 mins left, but I left the class, saying I had a stomachache

#33 Fuji Rock day2 :
I had an amazing time in this year’s Fuji Rock that I still haven’t fully come back to reality. Since my work pressure has begun heavy, I had to skip Day1 on Friday. I really wanted to see Ezra Collective! but I was able to watch both Ezra and Fred Again.. on the stream.
Fuji Rock organaizers has incredible musical taste. As I who listens to the top of Billboard charts only, usually go to the festival without knowing half of the performers. But every year, I was fully satisfied.

On arriving at Naeba, I was hit by an intense heat and strong sunlight. Being sleep deprived, I felt less excited and just wanted to find shade. After dropping off my bags at the main, totally unshaded, Green Stage, I headed to the White Stage to meet friends and escape the sun, without idea who will be playing. The band was Balming Tiger from Korea. Just five minutes, we realized how cool they were. My friends hurried to get beers, and shouted, “Let’s dance!”
I have a weak point for bands their lead vocal aren't afraid to dance quirky like Friendly Fires. Seeing someone break into awkward moves to hype up the crowd, gives me courage. It makes me realize that even though I strive to look cool at work and never show a tacky side, sometimes it’s okay to just be human.
Due to the excitement, we didn’t notice that it started pouring with rain and ended up joining the mosh pit, tackling and being tackled in the downpour. When it ended, we were completely soaked. Even though we had an all-nighter to get my rain gear ready, we left it at Green Stage. To make matters worse, I later realized my bag left open and lost my wallet and ID.

Overwhelmed by my immaturity and shivering in my wet clothes, I couldn’t enjoy James Blake. During Tatsuro Yamashita’s show, I managed to pull myself together. But I ended up seeing my most anticipated, VULFPECK on the bus back to the hotel on stream! After coming there eight times, this was my n-th Fuji Rock trial by fire.

#32 My 100-Day Challenge
Sometimes people think I'm male based on my posts.
While gender doesn't matter for posting, but it still makes me sad, so I changed my picture.
I liked my previous one better, so I'll change it back.

This challenge is achiving one-third! I was happy to receive many reactions when I posted about Jay-Z on day 30.

As I expected around the 30th day, keeping motivation is difficult. I've being quite busy with work, which lowers this challenge's priority.
I was determined to write today because I know that skipping one day leads to two days, and consecutive skips mean never coming back here.
Still, I felt heavy, so I spent time reading the book that inspired me to start this.

The book is titled "#100-Day Challenge" ,the diary of an economics student who began using ChatGPT to programming.
Despite being a very beginner, she attempted to create and post one app daily on X for 100 days.
She had the "laziness" trait optimal for programmers, incorporating her persona into ChatGPT to create apps using the simplest way to save effort.
Being truly lazy, I had empathy with her like "give my all to avoid work".

The apps she created ranged from games to learning tools. The book describes her growth in programming, prompt creation, and problem-solving skills when facing obstacles, along with her thoughts and the process leading to presenting her results at an international conference.

Her book also covers tips for habits, what impressed me was the importance of keeping motivation via process visualization, taking notes on thought processes, and fun.
I realized I'm losing motivation because I'm not numbering my posts, the end invisible, and I din't keep my thought processes into memo when writing, causing me to face the same grammar issues.
I'm having fun this though!
Recently, I'm able to share my post content with colleagues and English teachers, and I'm happy that this has made us closer.
It's all thanks to everyone here! I'll keep working hard!

## 5. 7/17/2025

An impressive email:
Yesterday, I was exhausted, but after seven hours of sleep I felt recharged!

This morning, I've done the mandatory AI training. I did my best, but the content was almost identical to what I did. At this point, such persistent repetition almost feels like harassment! The more I interact with AI, the more it seems to take over me, and I start to worry about my job. That really gets me down.
But Even as AI master😂😂I’m working on something AI couldn't handle.

We had been pursuing a major client for years, and I'm in charge of sending an email to their CEO. It’s unnecessary to meet him, but because our product is expensive, CxOs could be the decision maker. Meeting in person would be ideal. So it can’t just be a regular email,I have to craft message that stands out and makes this incredibly busy person want to meet us.

Actually, I’ve messed up before. Once I had a rare chance to meet him. Wanting to make a strong impression, I sent the agenda along with my thoughts about his book. Suddenly, the meeting was canceled. The next day, I got an email from him, “Your mail seems an AI summary. The questions are things you could easily find online. I don’t want to waste my time.” That absolutely shocked me. Honestly, I read his book, but because I was uncertain on the details, I had AI summarize it and help brainstorm questions,so he wasn’t wrong.

Yesterday, we had a meeting with his company. their manager said, “The CEO seems to remember you. Why don't you try to mail him again?” the pressure is intense, but I don’t want to mess up twice. This is something AI couldn't do, and I’m determined to tackle it in my own words.

If you wanted to leave a strong impression on someone highly popular and busy, what message would you write? It’s easy to chat someone here, but reality is tough.
Still, I'm thlliled to it, the gritty effort to truly understand others and internalize that knowledge is something only humans can do. That’s work AI can never replace.

Jay-Z :
I love Jay-Z so much. It’s a pitty that people only see him as Beyoncé’s husband, a billionaire, or just uncle J who show up occasionally in features. There’s so much more to him. There are rumors he’ll make a comeback at Super Bowl, if that happens, I would be excited.

I truly became obsessed with him after watching the MTV Unplugged. Then, my understanding to hiphop was too narrow, I thought it was nothing more than “money, women, violence”gangsa rap thing. Even though I didn’t understand English at all, I felt the messages in his songs. I remember buying “The Blueprint” CD with translations, and even more moved by the lyricism.
Whenever I went through tough in life, Jay-Z’s music has always given me the strength to push back against adversity.

I don’t just love him as a genius, but his cool personality. The time left the biggest impression was when he became the headliner at Glastonbury in 2008. It was the first time a hiphop artist became headliner, and Oasis’s Noel Gallagher commented on that,
"Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curveball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?' I don't know about it. But I'm not having hiphop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance."
Oasis is an amazing band, and I love Gallagher's as well, but at that time, I thought“He's such a tight-XXX” And, it was unnecessarily rude to Kylie Minogue, a national treasure of Australia!

This controversy grew a huge, but on stage, Jay-Z did a sharp and humorous response. While a video of Noel’s BBC interview criticizing him on the big screen, Jay-Z walked in with a guitar, led the crowd to a singalong of “Wonderwall,” and amid cheers and shouts, soon moved into “99 Problems” to the sound of AC/DC guitar, He set the crowd on fire.

This has become legendary that proved Jay-Z is a real rock star. Isn’t that just incredibly cool?

## 8. 7/15/2025

Plans for My Vacation:
American tech companies are unpredictable these days. Even my company has started to layoff this year, and my manager suddenly told he’d be leaving next month. It’s not sure whether he resigned or a company decision, but according to our branch manager, things might be different if his English was more fluent and he build a stronger relationship with headquarters. Hearing that made me realize that I can’t consider myself immune.

But there’s no point in worrying about the future, so I want to focus on things I can look forward to! The Fuji Rock Festival is coming up soon, so I’ve been working out to prepare myself for the tough outdoor conditions. Naeba, where the festival held, is notorious for heavy rain, so I’m ready for it. If my post suddenly stop, you can assume I was swept away by a flood in Naeba! I’ve watched a few people posting about Fuji Rock, so I’m thinking of sending them a DM. Hopefully, they will reply!
I’m also planning to go to the Summer Sonic! This year, Alicia Keys is coming to Japan, so I’m going to see her.

And, I’m lucky to be able to take a longer vacation, so I’m planning a trip to Madrid and San Sebastián. San Sebastián is famous as a gourmet city, and thanks to Basque cheesecake, it’s become a popular place for Japanese tourists. I’m looking forward to bar hopping there. In Madrid, I’d love to see Gaudí’s architecture and watch a football match. However, the friend I’m planning this with isn’t sure if she’ll be able to get time off, so I’m also considering traveling somewhere solo.

If I end up traveling alone, I’d love to visit Sri Lanka again. It’s known as a safe place, many Japanese women traveling by themselves.I’d like to climb Sigiriya Rock again, visit the tea plantations, eat spicy food, and see elephants. It’s been a while since I traveled solo, so I’m nervous, but since I have the chance, I want to make lots of plans.

Have you made any plans for your vacation this year? I’d love to hear about them!

## 9. 7/15/2025

My relationship with a junior colleague is complicated :

Last Friday, I went out drinking with a colleague. She was a young sales assistant, and I'd noticed her sighing repeatedly behind my desk. It seemed she might be troubled, I invited her to the restaurant with bar on the ground floor of our office after work. we decided to order pasta and talk.

She seemed to be struggling with her boss. She explained that as a rookie salesperson, she was lost and didn't want her efforts judged solely by numbers. She wanted to enjoy her work, but her boss immediately told her she should improve her mind. Her question was how to change her boss.
my thought was a bit old-fashioned, and I thought, "if you're in sales, showing results through numbers might be the only way" But saying that would have cut the conversation short, so I held my tongue.

While I was still figuring out what to say, our meal ended, and we had to move to the standing bar area. I thought it was a bit crass to talk about work there, but considering the current sales team's performance, I felt that I should tell her an advice. I shared my unsolicited opinion, "In sales, it's unavoidable to be pressured when our numbers are bad. Until your results improve, all you can do is endure and work hard. Only with that kind of attitude will gain cooperation from colleagues and clients, and then the results and enjoyment of work will follow."
Expounding on my intense work philosophy in a cheerful standing bar, I felt completely out of place. She unhappily just said, "Okay" and then disappeared with a lively group of men. I finished the leftover wine bottle and went home.

Today, I received a message from her. It said, "Thank you for Friday! I had a great time. I worked hard calling clients today and managed to set up four appointments! I'll keep working hard and having fun!" Despite my Friday's hangover and mixed feelings, I thought her quick turnaround and proactiveness suits for sales. She might last in this job.

## 10. 7/13/2025

Sweet Georgia, Sweet Caroline :
A hangover is no excuse for cancelling my diary.
Yesterday, I had rarely hangover that ruined the next day.
I can only manage three glasses of wine. I’ll display a reminder of this on my phone, or maybe tattoo it on my hand.
Didn’t write yesterday, so I’ll do two entries tomorrow.

Tokyo has been cooler yesterday, and this kind of temparature reminds me of Atlanta.
I stayed there for six months. Southern American food was good, the weather was beautiful, and while there’s a downtown, there are abundant nature and kind people, proper lovely place.
However, staying that long made me felt the strong culture diffrences.

I was in an English class at Georgia Tech, but my class had no other Asians, just Europeans and South Americans. Honestly, I felt lonely then. I wasn’t in a homestay but stayed a hotel far from campus, so making mates was tough. My teacher took pity and invited me to weekend house parties. Atlanta is a bit different from LA or NY, people tend to gather with same races. My teacher taught me about the Southern devout Christian culture. I thought I’d chat with locals about Usher or Migos, a local singer, but when I shared my Spotify playlist at their house, my iPhone got back quickly since my lists were too explicit, so they switched to country music. It was hilarious.
Thanks to them, I discovered Morgan Wallen is stunning voice.
At weekend parties, we’d bring dishes. Atlanta’s peach cobbler was great. I still make it sometimes here. Very few people got to eat my Norimaki. locals weren’t used to asian food, but it’s a fond memory.
Parties were packed with food and SweetWater beer, always a laugh. We’d bowl with empty wine bottles, cracking up when we smashed, and When we were drunk, we’d sing Sweet Caroline out loud, proper fun. St. Patrick’s Day in March, all in green, watching the river dyed green felt so American, I loved it.

I went back there for a Beyoncé concert, but it was short. Can’t wait to return.
